As Head of Project Management at the GSC, Joanne's role is to build best practices and processes for research project management throughout the centre. The goal of the Projects team is to ensure sound management for research faculty, freeing them to focus on scientific excellence. Its responsibilities include grants facilitation, grant fund management and compliance, large-scale project management and management of collaborative research platforms. Joanne has been with the GSC since May 2005.

Joanne holds a Project Management Professional (PMP) designation and has obtained a B.Sc and PhD in Biochemistry from Simon Fraser University (SFU). Her postdoctoral research was conducted the at University of California, San Diego and SFU. Throughout her training, Joanne was supported by fellowships from Medical Research Council of Canada and Michael Smith Foundation for Health Research.
