“IAdb.fa.gz” is a gunzip-compressed fasta file that comprises all curated microbial+RefSeq viral sequences from genbank, whereas “IAdb.fa.nix.gz” is a compressed novoalign index file derived from the former file, to use with the novoalign short read aligner (www.novocraft.com).
