Research Projects Manager

Management of projects and coordination of activities with the IT and systems group. Reporting to the Projects Team Leader, you will assist in the management and coordination of projects with specific emphasis and activities within the GSC’s system and IT groups. The role will include liaison with funders and collaborators, coordination of equipment acquisition and implementation of infrastructure projects, as well as other activities as required.

Specifically, you will:

    • Working with the Projects Team and the systems groups, establish and maintain accurate information on infrastructure status and requirements
    • Develop strategies to monitor progress on collaborative projects and implementation of new equipment and programs
    • Coordinate and contribute to the production of written proposals, project progress reports, and project budgets and cost estimates as required
    • Liaise with collaborators and project leaders on project objectives and collaborative activities, referring significant issues to the Systems Administrator, the Project Leader and/or the Projects Team Leader
    • Manage the GSC’s activities as a Node under the Compute Canada framework
    • Implement tracking and documentation systems for equipment utilization for reporting and planning purposes

Excellent written and verbal communication skills and proactive interactions with collaborators are a must to perform successfully in this position. Active participation in systems team meetings and seminars relevant to the group’s activities is highly encouraged.


While equivalencies will be considered, ideally you will bring a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized University in Science or Computer Science, plus 3 years of recent related experience.  Applicants with more experience or education, or with a PMP designation, may be considered at a higher level.
