Projects Coordinator

Job Code: PC 03-01-2018

Coordination of projects and grants in a research environment. Reporting to the Projects Team Leader, you will assist in the management and coordination of research projects and grants at the Genome Sciences Centre, BC Cancer.

Specifically, you will:

    • Work with the Projects Team and the laboratory research groups to establish and maintain accurate information on project and research costs, schedule, and progress.
    • Develop strategies to monitor progress on research projects and collaborations to ensure that the project objectives are met.
    • Coordinate and contribute to the production of written research grant applications, proposals, project progress reports, and project budgets and cost estimates.
    • Liaise with collaborators and project leaders on research project objectives and scientific issues, referring significant issues to the Project Leader.
    • Evaluate research project progress versus milestones and work with Scientists and research groups to address issues. Recommend strategies to resolve project efficiency issues.
    • Document, disseminate and archive research results including quality and quantity information.
    • Work with other groups at the GSC to establish other supporting and service tools for collaborators and other GSC users.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills and proactive interactions with collaborators are a must to perform successfully in this position. Active participation in laboratory meetings and seminars relevant to the group’s activities is highly encouraged.

Specifications

While equivalencies will be considered, ideally you will bring a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized University in Science or Business Administration, plus 3 years of recent related experience.  Applicants with more experience or education, or the  PMP designation, may be considered at the Project Manager level.
