Computational Biologist - Laboratory Information Management System Group

The Genome Sciences Centre is seeking a Computational Biologist to join our Laboratory Information Management System Group in a state of the art, high throughput genomics facility.
The successful applicant will participate in the tracking of laboratory processes and analysis of sequencing data by developing, refining and adapting bioinformatics tools for a high-throughput processing pipeline. We seek candidates with coding experience in perl, python, or php as well as an understanding of javascript, css, and/or ajax. Candidates should also have a good understanding of large relational
databases and SQL.
The role is ideally suited for a creative individual with a strong interest in software development for biological applications within an academic setting.
Specifications:
A degree in computer science or engineering and one year of related experience is required. Prior experience in a bioinformatics setting or an understanding of genomics would be
considered an asset.
The successful candidate will have a demonstrated ability to interact effectively within a dynamic team-based research environment, and should be able to communicate effectively with all levels of staff both verbally and in writing.
