Job Code: BGL-29-06-2011

Canada’s Michael Smith Genome Sciences Centre is a research department within the British Columbia Cancer Agency. A Bioinformatics group leader is being sought. The successful applicant will provide overall management and leadership to the bioinformatics group at the Genome Science Centre. The bioinformatics group undertakes analysis in a number of genomic areas, including DNA sequence analysis, gene expression, epigenomics and molecular modeling. The Genome Sciences Centre has a particular emphasis on Cancer Genomics and next-generation DNA sequencing, but does collaborate with researchers in all areas of biological science.

The successful candidate will also work closely with our collaborators and other organizations, such as Genome BC to ensure that bioinformatic projects and analyses are conducted in an appropriate and timely manner.

Experience in management of technical groups in a relevant field is required, as well as a combination of education and experience in biological sciences, computing and data analysis. A PhD is preferable, as is a combination of academic research or industry experience in the bioinformatics field.
